Back to school is underway, and students and teachers are lining up their pencils and straightening their rulers—gearing up for the year ahead. Particularly at this time of year, teachers are drafting their lesson plans, constructing syllabi, and reading new texts.
Caregivers often face unpleasant surprises later in life. Many people retire without considering the challenges that they – and those who help them – may face 20 years later. In the first 20 years of retirement, many retirees lose family members, suffer physical or mental decline, or face other life changes.
Eligibility rules for survivors benefits have improved: the age requirements are lower, surviving ex-spouses are eligible, including surviving spouses and partners of same-sex relationships. However, a surviving spouse is often unsure how to start claiming their survivor’s benefits. We have some information to assist you in applying for benefits as a surviving spouse.
