Donna Purchase is a WISER community educator and trainer for the Metro DC region. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of financial education.
Ms. Purchase is retired from Fannie Mae where she worked with national businesses and non-profit agencies to develop strategies to implement personal finance education in communities and in the workplace. She developed Growing Your Money: Personal Financial Tools, a nine-session personal finance education curriculum. To expand its reach, she implemented a Train-The-Trainer program that provided the tools for the program to reach thousands of women across the country from non-profits, churches and corporations.
Ms. Purchase has a national reputation in the field of financial education for average Americans and has been an early and consistent supporter of WISER’s work. For her work in the field, she was a recipient of the prestigious WISER Hero Award.
Ms. Purchase is working with WISER in partnership with the Bureau of Prisons to develop a financial education manual for incarcerated women. She also represents WISER on DC Mayor Bowser’s Age Friendly DC Initiative working on the Financial Security Task Force.
Ms. Purchase is active in the DC community serving on the Boards of The Southwest Neighborhood Assembly, Men Can Stop Rape, and OFT/ON (Organization for Training Others in Need). She lives with her husband Henry and is a proud mother and grandmother.
