Alane Dent is the Founder and CEO of Dent Strategies, a boutique government relations firm specializing in federal and state advocacy. Founded in April 2020, Dent Strategies develops and implements comprehensive legislative, coalition, and communications strategy. It also advises corporations and nonprofits on organizational mission, values and strategic planning initiatives. Mrs. Dent is a nationally recognized advocate with over twenty years of experience strategically achieving legislative priorities.

Prior to founding Dent Strategies, Mrs. Dent served as the Senior Vice-President for Federal Relations at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). In that role, she developed and implemented strategy for ACLI’s federal lobbying efforts with Congress and the Administration to achieve legislative and regulatory goals in the areas of tax, retirement security, financial services, and international issues. She served as member of the senior executive team responsible for advising the association’s President & CEO on strategic planning. She staffed the members CEO Steering Committee on Tax and advised the CEO Steering Committee on Retirement Security. She spearheaded the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative for the industry and oversaw and directed spending for ACLI’s PAC. She also built and strengthened relationships with financial services trades and other stakeholders on issues of strategic importance. Mrs. Dent joined ACLI as a Vice President in 2004.

Prior to joining ACLI, she served as a Federal Affairs Director for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC). Mrs. Dent has also served as Legislative Counsel to former U.S. Representative Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Legislative Analyst for the U.S. Social Security Administration, where she was hired and served as a Presidential Management Fellow.

She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Howard University and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.

In addition to her active participation in a number of professional organizations, she enjoys volunteering her time to promote issues related to closing the racial wealth gap, ensuring retirement security for women, and enhancing employer diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
